I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Howard University. After graduation I taught one year in 2nd grade before moving to join the kindergarten team for 5 years. I decided to leave the classroom when my first son was born but my passion for teaching and learning have never dissipated. I now homeschool both of my sons, ages 6 and 9 and have taught multiple online classes since 2020, including book clubs!

Homework
Frequency: includedFeedback: includedDetails: Each week, children will be tasked with reading 1 or more chapters of the book independently, or with an adult, before we meet again. The pages have fairly large writing and generally have a picture on each page so it shouldn't be too much reading. They will also be asked to either write a sentence or two about their favorite part of their independent reading and/or make an illustration to share at the beginning of the next class. The drawing/writing is an optional piece.
None.
--We will be reading a new book by Kate DiCamillo every month. You can order the book on Amazon or borrow it from your local library, either the physical or digital version. I will be sharing the digital version of the book on my screen during class. --Notebook or paper --Pencil and eraser --Drawing supplies (paper, crayons, markers, etc) --Print outs provided before class, if a printer is unavailable, I will do my best to accommodate and help the student complete the activity without it. No worries.
