1-2 hours per week. There are no required assignments, but students are encouraged to complete the optional assignments to get the most out of the course. These include creating posters, a skeleton project and flash cards. Research on a few topics will also be suggested and the fun facts that the student learns can be shared.Assessment

Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is an introduction to equine science that will include topics such as evolution, anatomy, nutrition and horse health. We will learn common terminology and breeds, markings and more! Students are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts as they go through the lessons with the teacher in the online classroom comments. Optional assignments in each lesson and can be shared in the online classroom.
Learning Goals
Learners will increase their knowledge in some basics of equine science including terminology, anatomy and basic care.

Equine Evolution and Jobs of Horses through History
How did horses change through time? What jobs have they been used for since we have domesticated them?

Lesson 2:
Terminology
Learn terms that are commonly used when discussing horses and medical terms often used by the veterinarian that horse owners should know.

Lesson 3:
Breeds, Colors and Markings
In this lesson we will review a variety of breeds, their common uses and how to recognize them based on what they look like. Colors and markings will also be covered.

Lesson 4:
Anatomy
Understanding equine anatomy is important and in this lesson learners will have a chance to learn pony parts and also to create an equine skeleton project!

I am a certified veterinary technician, University equine studies instructor and have bred, raised and shown Arabian horses for more than 30 years. I have a M.Ed. from Colorado State University and a Master of Veterinary Education from Lincoln Memorial University College of Veterinary Medicine.
I love teaching others about horses! My interest in horses began when I was very young and I love to encourage those who have an interest to learn as much as they can about these amazing creatures!
