Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is an advanced equine science course for those students who have taken my Introduction to Equine Science course or those who have previous horse experience.
Understanding the horses hoof and how farriers use their knowledge to help our horses stay healthy and sound is important for any equestrian. There is an old saying ...” no foot, no horse”.... The farrier is a very important part of our horses “health care team”.

In this class we will discuss the following:
Week 1 - Parts of the hoof, and farrier facts
Week 2- Farrier tools and 5 steps in horseshoeing
Week 3- Hoof diseases and we will wrap up with FARRIER SCIENCE BINGO!

Additional YouTube videos will be provided for students to watch in between classes. These are not required, but recommended for further learning and understanding.

As a lifelong equestrian and certified farrier through the American Farriers Association, I am excited to bring my passion for horses and animal care into the classroom. My journey has taught me the importance of continuous learning, and I am committed to fostering a similar love for knowledge in my students. I believe that children thrive when they engage with topics they are passionate about, and I strive to create an interactive and supportive environment where they can explore and expand their interests. I look forward to inspiring young minds and learning alongside them!
