Welcome to Introduction to Food Science! In this course, you will embark on an exciting journey into the science behind food and its impact on our bodies. We will explore the diverse world of foods, how they are processed, and the essential principles of nutrition. Topics such as food safety, allergies, and the role of kitchen equipment will also be covered.

Through engaging Canva slides, in-class discussions, quizzes, and easy-to-follow recipes, you will not only learn about food chemistry and ingredients but also gain practical skills for meal preparation. By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and confidence to create healthy, delicious meals for yourself and your family.

Introduction to Food Science
 - Introduce basic concepts of food science
- Learn about different types of food ingredients
- Learn about food safety and food handling 
Lesson 2:
Nutrition
 - Learn about the different nutrients and their nutritional values
- Understand the importance of a balanced diet
- Identify the most important nutrients and their sources 
Lesson 3:
Food Processing
 - Learn about food processing techniques such as freezing and canning
- Understand how food processing affects the nutritional values of food
- Learn about preserving food for future use 
Lesson 4:
Cooking and Baking
 - Learn about basic cooking techniques
- Learn about various baking methods
- Understand the importance of following a recipe 

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Parents should be close by to help learners with the use of kitchen appliances (if needed) and assist in food prep such as cutting, measuring, etc. Supplemental labs or other homework can be given to those who have food allergies or do not have the required ingredients.
