Why are we always hungry?  What is happening when we crave junk food?  How does our body change food into the energy we need to do everything from swimming, to listening in class, to sleeping.

This course is designed to introduce students to the science of nutrition, food, and energy.  If your learner has been interested in eating healthy, understanding sugar and fat, learning the process of digesting food to create energy, or science in general, this class is a relaxing atmosphere to learn the science of food.

Major class topics will include:
How to read food labels
What is a calorie?
Understanding the macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates and fats
Why do fats have a bad reputation?
Are all sugars the same?
How does your body create, store, and burn energy
