For ages 9-13, in this weekly class we will use fun food experiments to discover more about science and the scientific method! Your science lab could be as close as your kitchen!

The Kitchen Science Squad: Cookin' Up Chemical Curiosity! is a 30-40 minute easy course. Classes begin daily with a quick introduction of the scientific concept we will be studying for that day. Learners will learn one new concept per class.

PLEASE NOTE: FEATURED CLASS TOPICS FOR EACH WEEK ARE STILL IN DEVELOPMENT AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE SLIGHTLY

It doesn't happen often at all, but due to some very recent policy changes at YouTube, occasionally when I play a video from their platform, a 10second ad comes on beforehand. This is happening a lot with all teachers! I am working VERY HARD and diligently for a workaround. I know it is probably not a big deal, I know, I know…… but like to keep parents informed :)

NOTE: Ongoing courses do not have an end date, new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks.

Occasionally we'll be revisiting some of the featured topics, exploring it from a new angle but with new insights, discoveries and added layers of information! This creates an entirely different learning experience, pushing our science understanding to the next level.

Kahoot may be used to review concepts! I will let you know in advance in our classroom when those reviews will take place!

Come with me and discover science in foods! This class is all about having fun and learning. No prior knowledge is required. Just a pen and paper!

While the class start time is listed, please patiently allow up to 5 minutes past start time in the waiting room before we get started so that most students can arrive and I can follow Outschool’s policies on allowing students to enter.

Important Class Information ⚠️ Kitchen Safety Reminder This class will take place in the kitchen, so please monitor children at all times for safety reasons! ⚡ Fast-Paced & High-Energy Learning! This class is fast-paced and interactive! Note-taking will be required. Some of my class sizes are larger, which keeps the energy high and allows shy students to feel more at ease participating. If class size is a concern, please ensure you’re comfortable before registering. (For reference, I have successfully taught large classes of 20-30 students daily for the last 23 years! They’re in good hands! 😊) 📢 YouTube Ads Notice It doesn’t happen often, but due to recent policy changes on YouTube, there may occasionally be a 10-second ad before I play a video in class. This is affecting many teachers, and I am working diligently to find a workaround. I know it’s probably not a big deal, but I like to keep parents informed! 😊 ⏳ Class Start Time & Waiting Room While the class start time is listed, please allow up to 5 minutes past the start time in the waiting room before we begin. This ensures that most students can arrive before class starts and allows me to follow Outschool’s policies on student entry. 🎮 Kahoot for Review We may occasionally use Kahoot! to review concepts in a fun and engaging way. No account is required—students can simply join using a game code during class! Enrollment & Payment Policies 💰 Discounted Enrollments Discounted enrollments are not eligible for pausing or unenrolling. If you pause more than once, you can continue the class, but must re-enroll at full price. If you unenroll, you will need to rejoin at full price. No transfers for discounted enrollments. 💳 Payment & Refund Policy Outschool processes payments weekly (usually on Sundays). If you miss a payment, you must re-enroll at full price—unfortunately, I can no longer create weekly manual links for missed payments. Pausing your enrollment does not hold your seat in Outschool’s system. New discounts are for new students only (not existing students). No transfers. One discounted seat per family—additional enrollments must be at full price (unless you ask me ahead of time, in which case I will honor it!). ⏳ Missed Classes & Waitlisted Students If a discounted enrollment student has missed 3 or more classes, I may need to offer their spot to a waitlisted student. The class is full, and there are others eager to join. 📺 Multiple Learners on One Screen Siblings or multiple students can use the same screen, but each must be enrolled separately under their own Outschool profile. 🔄 Refund Policy I strictly follow Outschool’s refund policy as it applies to this class. If you are outside the refund window, reach out to me, and as a courtesy, I will try to assist in another way—but there is no guarantee that an alternative arrangement can be made. Final Note 💛 Most of you know me well by now and understand my heart. I am always happy to help and work with you, but let’s also be mindful of fairness so that we are not taking advantage of one another. 😊 Thank you for being part of this amazing learning adventure! 🌍👩‍🍳🔎

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I bring a rich and diverse background to my teaching, shaped by my Afro-Caribbean and American upbringing. My family heritage originates from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and France, and I was raised in a multicultural household—with my father from Dominica and my mother born and raised in the United States. The Caribbean is a blend of African, Asian, Indian, and European influences, and my upbringing reflected this mix. My family is bilingual in French and English, which deepened my appreciation for language, history, and cultural traditions. Our home was filled with parables, diverse cuisines, and a strong emphasis on education—values that continue to shape my teaching.

My passion for Science and Geography was sparked early, as these were the subjects I both excelled in and enjoyed the most. Today, I share that passion through engaging, interactive lessons that make scientific concepts come to life.

My Teaching Experience in this subject:

✅ I run a Multi-Cultural Homeschooling Group of over 200 families, where I teach children ages 8-12 a variety of subjects—including hands-on science experiments.

✅ As a full-time homeschooling mom, I provide rigorous science education to my 11-year-old daughter, incorporating real-world applications, hands-on learning, and STEM principles into her studies.

✅ I currently teach three Driver’s Education classes daily, reaching approximately 90 teenagers, where I integrate science, physics, and geography into lessons on road safety, vehicle mechanics, and environmental impact.

🔬 Hands-on Experimentation – Science is best learned through experimentation, observation, and discovery. My lessons are interactive and inquiry-based, encouraging students to ask questions, test hypotheses, and analyze results through engaging experiments and critical thinking activities.

🌍 Interdisciplinary Approach – I integrate Geography, Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Science, ensuring students see how science applies to everyday life—from earthquakes and ecosystems to chemical reactions and space exploration.

🎥 Engaging, Multimedia-Based Learning – My teaching blends humor, storytelling, and multimedia, making even the most complex scientific ideas relatable, memorable, and exciting.

With over 22 years of teaching experience, I have been fortunate to educate and mentor students in multiple settings, from formal classrooms to homeschooling communities. Beyond academics, I am passionate about poetry, art, music, and cultural expression, and I often incorporate these elements into my teaching to provide an amazing learning experience.

I am committed to continuous professional growth, ensuring I stay current with the latest teaching methodologies and advancements. Each year, I complete advanced instructor training to refine my skills and enhance my students' learning experiences.

Teaching is not just my profession—it’s my passion. My goal is to create an inspiring, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where students develop a lifelong love for science, exploration, and discovery!
