Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this class we will be learning the basics of portrait photography. We will cover lighting, composition rules, leading lines and shapes, subjects, very basic camera functions, basic editing examples, and have plenty of time for discussion as well as practice "homework" of taking photos and show-and-tell style critique.

We will have slides that are shown and discussed as well as photo examples. My style is fun and energetic. I love to interact with the students and hear about what they are interested in and why they're interested in photography.

Welcome! Let's Talk about Portraits
In our first week we will discuss what portraiture is, and the different types. We will talk about the rules of composition, lighting, and framing. We'll go over some examples of good and bad composition, and give time to ask questions and discuss. Homework will be assigned for the week between for the students to practice taking photos at home. They can use a tablet, phone, or camera but will need to be able to share images with the class for feedback and discussion.
