What's included

Group experience

If you enjoy photography and want to share your pictures and ideas with others, are looking for information, and want to collaborate with others your age, this is the place. This club is designed as a place for guidance, inspiration, and support. All comments should be respectful and honest. Constructive feedback is great.

Each week, learners should practice with their camera by taking pictures with different composition styles, different subject matter, or different locations. Learners should be prepared to share their images. There will also be competitions with specific subject matter or composition.

Each week will include various assignments and topics. Each learner will need to take pictures with changes to ISO, shutter speed, aperture, subject matter, or composition based on what we go over that week. The assignment will be posted by the end of the day on Monday and will be due by the end of the day the following Monday. For example, for week one, we'll go over shutter and ISO.The following week, the learners should have some images with changes to ISO and shutter.

It doesn't matter what camera you use. It can be your cell phone, point and shoot, mirrorless, dSLR, or film. Whatever your subject matter (nature, architecture, portraits, food, etc.), bring it on. In the club, ask questions, submit pictures for feedback, get recommendations for equipment, it's all here.

I will be interacting with learners in the group on a daily basis. I will give feedback on pictures, provide suggestions for software and equipment, explain camera parts and settings, explain composition styles, and other photography related info as needed.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I'm a photographer, hiker, biker, and IT guy. I've been a scout master and am teaching the photography merit badge to a local scout troop. My classes will be a mixture of photography, history, and Star Wars, with possibly some other stuff mixed in every now and then. My parents were teachers for more than 30 years and my girlfriend is a teacher, so I've spent my life immersed in what teachers do.
