This is an asynchronous version of my popular Dungeons and Dragons classes. Now students will learn how to run Dungeons and Dragons campaigns for their friends and family.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction to Dungeon Mastering
Objective: Introduction to the role of a Dungeon Master (DM) in Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). Familiarize students with the basic tools and resources for DMing. Agenda: Welcome and Introduction What is your familiarity with D&D? How long have you played? Have you tried to DM before? Understanding the Role of a Dungeon Master Responsibilities and creative aspects of being a DM. Discuss the importance of storytelling, improvisation, and player engagement. Essential Tools for DMing
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Building Your D&D World
Objective: How to create and develop your own D&D world. Discussion on the importance of world-building in enhancing the gaming experience. Agenda: Recap and Homework Discussion Discuss creating maps, cultures, and histories for a campaign setting. Emphasize the importance of consistency and believability. Creating Memorable, diverse and interesting Non-Player Characters (NPCs) How to bring NPCs to life through details and personalities.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Crafting Engaging Narratives
Objective: How to structure and tell compelling stories within a D&D campaign. Agenda: Discuss the NPCs and share insights through the message board. Address any questions related to world-building. Collaborative Storytelling Fundamentals Basic elements of storytelling: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. How to adapt these elements to the dynamic nature of D&D. Developing a Campaign Arc
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Managing Gameplay and Player Dynamics
Objective: Practical tips for managing game sessions, handling player dynamics, and resolving conflicts. Discuss pacing, balancing encounters, and adapting to player choices. Tips for handling unexpected situations during gameplay. Player Dynamics and Communication Common challenges in player dynamics. Effective communication strategies with players.
Students will learn and improve their dungeon mastering skills and most importantly communication and research abilities. 
I've been playing RPGs for over 30 years and have been running Dungeons and Dragons campaigns here on Outschool for 3 years. 
Homework Offered
Homework is assigned weekly and will include a handout, drawing and written assignments no longer than a page or two.

Students should be somewhat familiar with the rules and mechanics of D&D through previous game play or by reading through the Player's Hand Book. If you do not have previous experience then I suggest taking one of my DnD classes.
