Class Experience

This is a beginner class for students who have not yet learned a song on their guitar.
Students are expected to know the song well enough to follow along with the melody and lyrics.

We will learn basic tuning and the chords required to play "Ocean Eyes". The strumming will be a simple down strum. A guitar pick is not required, I encourage students to learn guitar using their hands before they grab a pick. 

By the time class is done, students will be able to play the guitar chords required for the song. Although, some students might require extra practice outside of class to get the song exactly how they'd like. Starting to play a song you enjoy is perfect for staying motivated while learning an instrument :)

Hi there! My name is Gabriela and I teach Songwriting, Voice, and Spanish - beginner guitar too!

With a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, I find that I value - above all - the emotional comfort of each student (in a situation where their physical safety and health are already taken care of). This is because I believe learning is maximized when each person is comfortable, engaged, and in harmony with their self-expression. I value establishing trust in a student/teacher relationship, as well as hearing my student's learning needs, so I can assist them in a way that is best for THEM. 
I teach my subjects in a way that requires active participation and collaboration with activities such as games, conversations, and hands-on activities. 
Students hold the power to creating the learning experience that suits them best, and it's my job to guide them through realizing that power.
