This crash course is for beginner guitar players. Meaning that they haven't learned their first chord yet. We'll learn the basics of tuning, strumming, playing chords, and fingerpicking. We'll use songwriting as a tool to put to creative use what we've been learning on our guitars :) Between Monday and Friday, we'll build a song based on what we learned in class that day. The goal of this course is for all learners to feel confident with the guitar and hopefully break the "intimidation" phase. Let's pick up our guitars and play! Syllabus: Monday: Making sure our guitars are tuned, learning guitar anatomy, strumming, and playing basic notes. Tuesday: Learning our first two chords and voting on the title of our song. Wednesday: We learn how to read tabs (fingerpicking) and start organizing our song ideas/lyrics. Thursday: We learn two more chords and practice different strumming patterns. Friday: We use all our knowledge to finish our group song :) ****NOTE**** It is very likely that learners will need help tuning their guitars. Please be ready to help them with this. I value establishing trust in a student/teacher relationship, as well as hearing my student's learning needs, so I can assist them in a way that is best for THEM.
I teach my subjects in a way that requires active participation and collaboration with activities such as games, conversations, and hands-on activities.
Students hold the power to creating the learning experience that suits them best, and it's my job to guide them through realizing that power.
