This class uses the IEW Grammar book, Nose Tree. It covers many grammar topics and can be found here: https://iew.com/fix-it-grammar-level-1-nose-tree-student-book This is the first of the IEW Grammar books. Summer 2024 is the LAST TIME I will be teaching this class. I will have Books 2, 3, 4 in fall 2024, and then Books 3, 4, and 5 in spring 2025. Students search for and correct grammar errors. Students will repeatedly practice all kinds of grammar rules and writing in the context of a coherent story.
I have taught IEW in many ways for 16 years. I am a Registered IEW instructor.
Homework Offered
Ideally, students should spend 10-15 minutes copying their corrected passage into their own notebook, so that at the end of class they have a completed story. Each Nose Tree sentence is about this long: Two of them fell asleep under a tree while the third built a fire and stayed alert. There will be 4 sentences to correctly copy after each day of class. .0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Parents will see the students’ corrections in the grammar book and help them rewrite into another notebook. You are welcome to show me your child's work but it is not necessary.Grades Offered
