This is the best way to learn grammar! Students find and correct mistakes in this ongoing, fun story. This class begins with Week 17 in the IEW Grammar book, Mowgli and Shere Khan. It can be found here: https://iew.com/shop/products/fix-it%E2%84%A2-grammar-level-4-mowgli-and-shere-khan-student-book This is Book 4 and is appropriate for middle school. This class covers 14 "weeks" of Mowgli, but since we meet twice a week, we meet for 14 sessions in 7 weeks. This book builds on concepts taught in previous levels and presents a thorough explanation of additional punctuation rules, essential/nonessential clauses, complex sentence patterns, transitional prepositional openers, and more. Once a concept is introduced, it is put into practice on subsequent weeks. Here are details, but more can be found on page 11. Weeks 17-18 Cumulative and coordinate adjectives Weeks 19-20 Conjunctions Weeks 21-22 Who/which/whose clauses Weeks 23-24 That clause and dependent clause Weeks 25-26 Cumulative and coordinate adjectives Weeks 27-28 review Weeks 29-30 Review You should plan to review the concepts with your learner. We cover each page thoroughly, but the book is set up to practice grammar 5-10 minutes a day, for 4 days a week. We cover "four days," which equals one week, in EACH day of class. This is fast! So please take the time on other days to review and/or have them write out the sentences. I agree with IEW that your student should take the time to rewrite each week after class. This may take an additional 10-30 minutes. I will not be checking this, but I do recommend it. I do teach all levels of IEW grammar in many ways! Contact me if you don't see the class you need. I have writing classes for middle and elementary school.
