This 1 on 1 tutoring session is built to help students struggling with their grammar. After our first session, where I will asses the students needs, we will work weekly on setting a firm foundation to build grammar skills on.

This grammar tutoring session focuses on helping students who are struggling with their grammar to set up a solid foundation that they often do not receive in the public school classroom. This is a 1-on-1 training session. This is not a formal class. Our focus will be on each student's specific needs. I will work with each student and we will build a timeline and curriculum that works best for them. That being said we will use techniques such as sentence diagraming and practical descriptive grammar strategies to help students learn the practical use of grammar before they fret about the "why". These techniques will allow the students to learn the grammar of their every day language and learn that grammar isn't something only discussed in stuffy classrooms. No outside work is necessary for this tutoring. However, I do encourage students to practice what we talk about in session outside of instructional time.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify all parts of speech and create grammatically correct sentences and phrases.

Parental Guidance
As a seasoned composition instructor, I will never discourage a student to drop their own dialect or way of speaking. I only encourage "proper grammar", or standard english, as and addition to their original speaking and writing habits.
We will more than likely discuss the importance and grammatical correctness of dialects such as AAVE and Cajun English. In these discussions we will discuss the prejudice held against people who speak these dialects and those can be sensitive conversations.
Pre-Requisites
The student does not need to have any specific prior knowledge but should be able to communicate questions and understanding in English.
Supply List
The learner will need access to a computer with wifi and access to Google Docs. All other supplies will be provided.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
