Homework
Most work will be done in class. Student is encourage to use mouse, or computer pencil or computer pen and complete the math questions together on the screen during Zoom screen share.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 7
We will be teaching Grade 6-7 Math.  The class may have worksheets and activities. We may use games, slides, video, images, manipulatives to teach the material. We will be using the interactive whiteboard on Zoom so students are encouraged to provide their share of their responses using a mouse, in the chat box or using a drawing tablet.

covers:  Four operations, powers, exponents, rounding estimating
 
Week of (Oct 10) Expressions and Equations
covers: Multiplying and dividing in parts, order of operation, length, perimeter
 
Week (Oct 17) Expressions and Equation
covers: Simplifying expressions, distributive property, inequalities
 
Week (Oct 24) Decimals
covers: Place value with decimals, comparing decimals, add and subtract decimals 
 
Week (Oct 31) Decimals
covers: Fractions and Decimals, long division with decimals, divide by decimals, converting customary measuring units, converting metric measuring units

Week (Nov 7) Percent
covers: Percentage, discounts, mixed review
 
Week (Nov 14) Grade 6B Prime Factorization
covers: GCF, LCM, Factoring sums, GCF (greatest common factor), LCM (lowest common multiple), Simplifying Fractions

covers: Multiplying fractions, Dividing fractions, reciprocal numbers, word problems

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We may use Google Forms, Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets, for teaching our class and for informal assessments during our class. Student will not require a Gmail account to use them. For class notes, I will be only be using Zoom Screen Share to share the material in class. Students will be predominately writing in their own lined paper, notebook to do the problems.

I have over 17 years of teaching experience in classrooms and in one to one tutoring settings. I believe in lifelong learning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary with a Math and Science specialization. I also completed a Diploma in Early Years Education, Certificate in Kindergarten, Diploma in Special Education, and Certificate in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). I have worked with student ages from Pre-K to Grade 12.

I believe every student can learn and each student may learn differently. My job as an educator is to teach students and provide them with new challenges that stimulate their own thinking and inspire them to enjoy learning.
