What's included

Class Experience

Students will learn the first four structural models presented in IEW while learning about exciting aspects of flight.  This is a FLEX class so there will be NO LIVE MEETINGS.

Week 1:  Orville & Wilbur Wright/Unit 1& 2: Note Making and Outlines 
Week 2:  Amelia Earhart/Unit 2:  Writing from Notes 
Week 3: Aesop Fable (Characters/Setting/Plot)/Unit 3:  Retelling Narrative Stories 
Week 4:  Aesop Fable(Climax/Resolution)Unit 3:  Retelling Narrative Stories
Week 5:  Tuskegee Airmen/Unit 4:  Summarizing a Reference
Week 6: The Science of Flight/Unit 4: Summarizing a Reference

No experience or background knowledge is required.  This lesson introduces the first writing components.

Students can expect to interact in the following ways:
1.  A video lesson will be posted inside of the classroom at the beginning of each week.  
2.  Weekly, students will be given a PDF of guided notes, writing assignments and a checklist to complete.  
3.  By the end of the week, students will post their completed assignments for the teacher inside of the Outschool class.
4.  The teacher will provide written feedback on the completed work using the rubric provided.
5. Each week the teacher will post a "Question of the Week" inside of the classroom regarding concepts learned.  Students are expected to answer the question and provide encouraging feedback to their classmates.

NOTE:  This series is designed to introduce your student to Units 1-4 of the IEW Process.

I am a certified IEW instructor who has a passion for teaching. I am also a military spouse and veteran homeschooling mom with 10 years of experience. Previously, I taught IEW within Classical Conversations. I primarily teach IEW courses on Outschool. In addition, I hold a substitute teacher's license and a degree in Human Resource Management. When I am not teaching, you'll find me creating grammar songs and making language arts videos on my YouTube page or simply enjoying time with my family.
