1-2 hours per week. Weekly assignments will follow the lessons in the book. Weekly assignments may include key word outlines, paragraphs, editing and revising, style exercises, or vocabulary.Assessment
I will offer written feedback and editing of submitted assignments. I will use the checklist given in the book to guide my feedback. I do not offer letter or number grades. In order for the assignments to be evaluated, they must be either typed or very neatly handwritten. The files should be uploaded in a direct Outschool message to me rather than posted on the main classroom page. Photos of handwritten work may be submitted provided the photos are oriented in the correct direction, taken from directly above, and fill the frame of the picture. If I cannot read it, I will ask for a different file to be uploaded. All submitted assignments must be double-spaced.Class Experience
Note about refunds: I understand that schedules can change before a new school year. I will issue a full refund before July 15th. **Sample my IEW writing classes with my one-time class: Paragraph Writing (scroll down for link).** This class teaches IEW Units one through four using IEW's Theme Book, Adventures in Writing. Each class will focus on one lesson in the new Adventures in Writing Level A book. Structure will be taught through key word outlines, retelling stories, and paragraph structure. Style will be introduced including the "ly" adverb, who/which clause, and strong verb. Each class will include a greeting activity, mechanics and style, a writing lesson, and a review or vocabulary exercise. Weekly homework will be given according to the Adventures in Writing suggested assignments. Assignments that are submitted to me via Outschool messaging will receive written feedback according to the checklist included in the Adventures in Writing book from IEW.
