Textures in the Great Outdoors
•Objective: Explore and compare textures found in nature. •Activity: Texture scavenger hunt. Provide children with texture cards (smooth, rough, bumpy, etc.). Use these to find matching textures in the outdoor area. Use crayons and paper for bark rubbings or leaf rubbings to capture textures. •Materials: Texture cards, crayons, paper. •Discussion: Discuss how different textures are felt and why some trees or leaves might be smoother or rougher than others.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Shapes and Patterns

Collect various items, then use them to create art by stamping paint on paper to reveal their shapes or patterns. Choose the current or an approaching season and create an art project that represents it, such as cotton ball snow on construction paper trees for winter or tissue paper flowers for spring. •Materials: Season-appropriate art materials (cotton balls, tissue paper, construction paper, etc.). •Discussion: Reflect on how the environment looks during different seasons and what changes occur.
