Beginner Level
Discover the fascinating world of art as we learn about a new artist or art movement each week! In this dynamic class, young artists will learn about influential artists throughout history and create a work of art inspired by the week’s subject. Mediums covered include drawing, collage, watercolor, acrylic or tempera, and sculpture. We meet once per week and will begin by looking at images of artwork and learning about the life of an artist or artists within an historical movement. Then the teacher will demonstrate the art project and students will start creating. Students will spend about half of class working on their projects with guidance from the teacher. We will end by sharing our work and having a group discussion about the lesson. This 6-week class is best if attended from start to finish, but you may join or cancel at any time. Appropriate for A1 - A2 learners.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about art history and connect what they learn to a hands-on activity creating artwork. Students will discover new art materials and techniques and be able to relate that to artists from the past.
