Learners will explore common families in the order Phasmatodea (Stick Insects). We will investigate how these insects interact with their environment to become masters of disguise. Learners will become familiar with key terms such as phytophagous, camouflage, nocturnal, etc. Learners will understand the food chain relationships that drive stick insects' behaviours. Learners should grow their passion for the study of insects.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to continue their learning after class, by drawing their own insect and camouflaging it. What colour should the insect be to blend in with leaves? What about snow? Once completed, students can upload their work for me to provide feedback. Additional worksheets will also be provided.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
