1 hour per week. Some learners may need to finish their drawings at home if they need more time, like I always do! Optional: Learners are encouraged to use the techniques they learned in class to their own drawings.Class Experience
Tweet! Tweet! Do you know that the average lifespan of a chickadee is only 2 years? Let's draw one together and talk about birds! In this interactive, one time class, learners will learn foundational drawing skills that can be applied to any drawing - from cartoon to realistic. For this class, we will focus on drawing a black-capped chickadee with colored pencils, while learning some fun facts. All levels are welcome! Learners will learn how to identify the important shapes, will learn how to draw far away feathers, and will learn about tones (shade) to make their drawings pop. This class will have a relaxed atmosphere and will have plenty of time for curious questions! Learners will work together to identify the shapes in the example before drawing alongside with me throughout the class. This class is structured like all my other ongoing and multi-day classes, and if you have any questions, please send me a message.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated from Grand Central Atelier in New York City where I was trained to draw and paint realistically in a traditional way. While I usually draw realistically, I also enjoy using this approach to draw in different styles. My goal is to teach children the tools of drawing and give them the opportunity to practice applying them so that they will be able to draw what they want independently.
