Class Experience

Love drawing? Painting? Materials? New Styles? ...Everything? This class explores it all—join us for a new creative challenge every week!

In this fun art class, we'll learn drawing and painting techniques while exploring various mediums and art styles/movements.
As a professional artist who specialized in old master drawing and painting methods, my GOAL is for curious learners to learn more about art's techniques, materials, and styles to develop confidence and well-rounded skills. While we will learn about some historical art movements, this is not a history class.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

- Each class will be a different topic such as animals, landscapes, characters, etc.
- Each class will be based on a different style or art movement (in no particular order): Realism, Cartoon, Anime, Impressionism, Pointillism, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Expressionism, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Art Nouveau, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art
- We will cycle through these materials: Watercolor, Colored Pencils, Markers, Pen/Ink, Charcoal, Pencil
- Learners will learn different techniques from pencil shading to color theory.

CLASS MANAGEMENT:

- Learners follow along as I create, but are encouraged to experiment to make the art their own
- I will be checking in with learners throughout the class.
- Learners don't need to share their artwork if they feel shy.
- Microphones will be off because of background noise, but learners are welcome to unmute to ask questions or share thoughts.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated from Grand Central Atelier in New York City where I studied fine arts. I later furthered my education at the Joe Kubert School where I was trained in narrative art such as comics and graphic novels. My goal is to teach children fundamental drawing and painting skills and give them the opportunity to practice applying them so that they will be able to draw what they want independently and confidently.
