1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In our class together, learners will be exploring how nature can demonstrate equality, which is a paramount principle. We will explore a few species of birds and learn how they manifest this principle. The learners will be able to actively participate during class by: ➢ sharing what each parent does ➢ sharing how equality is being displayed through the raising of the young ➢ sharing how equality affects people today We will look at the nest building process for each species, and note how each parent participates in feeding the young. A slideshow will be presented to highlight how the different species of bird parents interact during the incubation period and after the hatching. Each learner will be able to express their thoughts on how they view equality and gain an understanding on how others view it. The learners will be guided through this exploration and discussion. No prior knowledge is needed to join. This class will open their eyes to equality in nature through one of nature’s wonders-birds!
Learning Goals
After completing this class learners will be able to:
• Describe how equality is demonstrated in some bird species
• Identify the importance of equality

Welcome!
It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.
I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.
As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.
I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
