Calm and Controlled: Techniques to Calm Bodies and Minds (9-12 Year Olds)

Class Experience

When tempers rise, it can be hard to know what to do to calm ourselves and focus our thoughts. This one time class will teach learners some very easy techniques to help them learn to control their breathing and calm their thoughts.

Learners will be guided through four breathing exercises and one muscle exercise that they can safely and easily use when they feel upset or angry. We will practice these exercises during class until learners are comfortable with them. We will also discuss different situations and which technique they should use.

Hello! My name is Deborah. I have been working with children and youth for many years, both as a volunteer and as an online teacher and a classroom teaching assistant. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. 

As a teacher, it is vital that learners feel successful and encouraged! I always use a positive attitude with my students, since that is how I would want to be taught. 

I love to be in the kitchen and I enjoy sharing that passion with my students in our baking classes. I'm a certified Zumba instructor, so I love to have fun dancing in our exercise classes!

I grew up in a big city and settled in a small town with my husband and two kids. I love hiking, running and reading. I would order out for pizza and tacos every night if I could.
