InformalClass Experience
Bastien Level 2 - Part II Students who have played piano for approximately eight months to a year and a half could take this class. Students would need to play for me to determine whether this class would be appropriate for them or show they can play pieces in Bastien Level 1 (at the end of book). Students should know the following: locating sharps and flats, familiarity with time signatures 2/4, ¾ and 4/4; basic rhythms such as quarter, eighth notes, half notes, dotted half note and whole notes. They should be able to recognize seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths. They should identify forte, piano, legato, staccato, slur, tie and repeat signs. They will recognize form, how to use the damper pedal and play in Group 1 keys (C, G and F) They can play dotted quarter and eighth note rhythms For Part II, students will be need to demonstrate that they can play pieces from Level 1 (around the end of the section).
