All About Reading: Private Tutoring Using Phonics
Stacey Fox, M.A.
In this ongoing class, students will use the All About Reading Curriculum to learn phonics using Orton Gillingham Methodologies
US Grade Kindergarten - 6
In this class, students will work at their pace to learn to read using phonics-based instruction. This class will utilize many Orton-Gillingham techniques while using the All About Reading curriculum. Students will be required to purchase the student book, readers and letter tiles app from the All About Reading website or other retailers to participate in this tutoring. In class, students will begin by reviewing the topics they have covered in previous classes. Students will then begin...
The student will learn to read using a phonics-based instruction. Students will build upon their knowledge with each lesson to make reading easy and fun.
I have used this program for the past several years to teach my own children while homeschooling and many other children to read! All of the children that I have taught have improved their reading abilities. Many have seen multiple grade level increases during one school year!
Homework OfferedStudents are strongly encouraged to practice reading in between classes. This can be the fluency pages, the games played and the stories read in class.
Assessments OfferedThe student is assessed often in the All About Reading curriculum. The student will read a story in the readers and this gives the teacher and parent an opportunity to see how the child has been able to be successful in the lessons he has recently learned. The student also answers comprehension questions often when reading.
A placement test will be completed to see the level of each student prior to purchasing supplies. Students will need to purchase: - A student packet - the student readers -the basic reading interactive kit Students will also need a card box to hold their work and phonogram cards. This can be purchased on the All About Reading Website or any other website that sells index cardholders. It is highly recommended that the parent also purchase the teacher's manual to assist their child during days that the student does not meet with the teacher. This manual also helps the parent to know where the student is and what activities are coming up in the curriculum.
The All About Reading curriculum requires the parent to have the lesson prepped before the beginning of class time. This usually means taking the correct pages out of the student book and cutting up the activity needed. It is highly suggested that the parent do this before beginning the class for the ENTIRE level. I have found that it is best stored in a binder with sheet protectors for each lesson. You can place the activities and fluency pages in the sheet protector for each lesson.
All About Reading can be purchased on the website at www. allaboutreading.com or at https://www.allaboutlearningpress.net/go.php?id=2003 should you choose to use my affiliate link. You can also purchase the curriculum from an online retailer like Amazon or Christianbook.com
This class is in high demand! All times have sold out.
