1 hour per week. Each class will include 1-2 assignments designed to reinforce the phonics skills covered that day. These may include printable worksheets, short reading exercises, or fun phonics challenges. Assignments are optional but highly encouraged to help solidify learning and boost confidence.Certificate of Completion
Upon successfully completing the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion to celebrate their progress in phonics and early reading skills. This certificate acknowledges their hard work and achievements throughout the class.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
Does your child need extra support with phonics and early reading skills? In this interactive and engaging class, young learners will build confidence in reading through fun games, hands-on activities, and guided practice! What will be taught? Over four weeks, students will strengthen their phonics skills (see syllabus). How is the class structured? Each 45-minute session will include: 🔹 A warm-up activity to review prior skills 🔹 Explicit phonics instruction with visuals & examples 🔹 Interactive practice with games and activities 🔹 Guided reading of words and sentences 🔹 A fun closing challenge to reinforce learning How will I teach? This class is designed to be engaging and hands-on! I use a multi-sensory approach, including movement, visuals, and interactive games to help learners grasp phonics concepts. Students will actively participate by reading, spelling, and playing phonics-based activities. Learner Interaction This is a highly interactive class where students will: ✅ Practice reading and spelling words aloud ✅ Play phonics games in a small-group setting ✅ Engage in hands-on activities to reinforce concepts ✅ Receive encouragement and support in a fun, positive environment By the end of this course, students will have improved their phonics skills and feel more confident in their reading abilities. Learning Goals

Week 1: Short Vowel Sounds & CVC Words
Introduction to short vowels (a, e, i, o, u)
Practice reading and writing CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words
Practice Games (students will need to access another tab to open education.com to play the online games). 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Week 2: Blends & Digraphs
Learn common blends (bl, st, cr, etc.) and digraphs (sh, ch, th, wh, etc.)
Practice reading and spelling words with blends and digraphs
Fun activities: "Mystery Word" game & Blends scavenger hunt 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Week 3: Silent E & Long Vowel Sounds
How Silent E changes short vowels to long vowels
Reading and spelling words with Silent E (e.g., hop → hope, cap → cape)
Interactive activity: "Long Vowel Flip Cards" and "Find the Magic E" 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Week 4: Vowel Teams & R-Controlled Vowels
Introduction to vowel teams (ai, ee, oa, etc.) and r-controlled vowels (ar, er, ir, or, ur)
Practice reading and spelling words with these vowel patterns
Fun game: "Spin & Read" where students create and read words using vowel teams and r-controlled vowels 45 mins online live lesson

This class uses visuals, movement, and repetition to support different learning styles. I’m happy to adjust activities to meet individual needs—just let me know how I can help!
Parental Guidance
This class does not include any content that may be upsetting or require safety precautions. If third-party tools are used, all are kid-friendly, and no account creation is required.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should recognize most letters and their sounds. No prior phonics experience is required—this class is great for early readers who need extra practice!
Supply List
Students will need a pencil, eraser, and a notebook or paper for writing and practicing words. Printable worksheets will be provided during class. Optional: Students may want to have markers or crayons for interactive activities.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
We will use original materials developed by me and interactive phonics games from educational websites like Education.com or ABCYA. All materials used are age-appropriate and designed to enhance phonics learning.
