Homework
Students are strongly encouraged to practice reading in between classes. This can be the fluency pages, the games played and the stories read in class.
Assessment
The student is assessed often in the All About Reading curriculum. The student will read a story in the readers and this gives the teacher and parent an opportunity to see how the child has been able to be successful in the lessons he has recently learned. The student also answers comprehension questions often when reading.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 11
In this class, students will work at their pace to learn to read using phonics-based instruction. This class will utilize many Orton-Gillingham techniques while using the All About Reading curriculum. Students will be required to purchase the student book, readers and letter tiles app from the All About Reading website or other retailers to participate in this tutoring.

In class, students will begin by reviewing the topics they have covered in previous classes. Students will then begin to learn new material and practice it using a fun game and with word cards. Students will utilize the letter tiles in class to assist them in their understanding of the phonics concepts taught in class. When the student has mastered the lesson, they will move onto the next lesson in their All About Reading curriculum.

Class 1: Students will begin their reading journey on Lesson 1 of the current level that they were placed into in the All About Reading curriculum.

Class 2: Students will review lesson 1 and complete lesson 2.

Class 3: Students will review lessons 1 and 2 and complete lesson 3.

Class 4: Students will review previous lessons and complete lesson 4.

Class 5: Students will review previous lessons and will complete lesson 5.

Class 6: Students will review previous lessons and complete lesson 6.

Class 7: Students will review previous lessons and complete lesson 7.

Class 8. Students will review previous lessons and complete lesson 8.

Each lesson is dependent upon what Level of the curriculum the student is using and may be different for each student. This is just a sample of what may occur in the classroom for each student. Each student is an individual and will work at their own pace.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
The All About Reading curriculum requires the parent to have the lesson prepped before the beginning of class time. This usually means taking the correct pages out of the student book and cutting up the activity needed. It is highly suggested that the parent do this before beginning the class for the ENTIRE level. I have found that it is best stored in a binder with sheet protectors for each lesson. You can place the activities and fluency pages in the sheet protector for each lesson.
Supply List
A placement test will be completed to see the level of each student prior to purchasing supplies. Students will need to purchase:

- A student packet
- the student readers
-the basic reading interactive kit

Students will also need a card box to hold their work and phonogram cards. This can be purchased on the All About Reading Website or any other website that sells index cardholders.

It is highly recommended that the parent also purchase the teacher's manual to assist their child during days that the student does not meet with the teacher. This manual also helps the parent to know where the student is and what activities are coming up in the curriculum.
