Students will be informally assessed throughout the class with questioning, and while showing their ability to count and quantify using a ten frame.

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten

In this class, students will gain a better understanding of the term "10 frame" and how to utilize it when counting to ten.  The class will start off with introductions, followed by teacher led instruction of the term ten frame.  Strategies for using ten frames will also be given throughout the lesson.  Students can follow along by drawing a simple ten frame on a piece of paper and use a manipulative of their choice to fill in the ten frame to represent a number.  My teaching style is mostly play based, because I feel like if a student is having fun, they are more likely to learn and retain the task at hand!  Students will also get the opportunity to create a number of their choice and having other students use their ten frame to replicate!

pencil/pen/marker
a piece of paper to draw a ten frame
10 manipulatives to fill then ten frame (could be anything that will fit in your ten frame boxes!  cheerios, toy cars, little blocks)

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

It is my philosophy that teaching should always be done in an environment that is healthy, educational, and most importantly safe.  I believe that students thrive when they feel the most comfortable, and by transforming learning into fun activities, it allows students to gain a better understanding on a topic whether they realize it or not!  It gives me such pride at the end of each school year when they can showcase their learning talents to their parents!  I am excited to meet new students and provide the same type of love and enthusiasm to help reach their highest potentials!
