In this 8 week flex class, students will become familiar with basic emotions and discuss different times/situations in which they can relate to the weekly feeling. Every week, I (the teacher) will upload a video discussing the weekly feeling and taking a close look at the facial expressions. Teacher will have visual aids to accommodate students, and will also talk about a time when I felt this way and why. I will then open the discussion for students, which is required, to post a response and/or drawing about the weekly feeling.

Student participation in this class is required, and will have multiple ways they can show participation. Students will respond to the weekly discussion by writing a comment, or upload a video of themselves about a time when they felt a certain way (weekly feeling). . Students can also participate by drawing a picture of their feelings, along with a sentence describing the picture into the weekly discussion board. Drawings are optional, however weekly participation and discussion is expected weekly. I will also upload a separate assignment of a situational picture that goes along with the weekly feeling, where students can create a story based on what they see, if they are having a hard time connecting a story with themselves and the weekly feeling.

Feeling Weeks Schedule:
Week 1-Happy
Week 2-Sad
Week 3-Angry
Week 4- Disappointed
Week 5- Anxious
Week 6- Scared
Week 7- Frustrated
Week 8- Calm

I'll open a weekly discussion forum for students to share their successes, ask questions, and expect interactions between each other in the process. Students are required to engage in discussion not only with the teacher but with each other as well.

Each week, students will also be required to respond to another student's assignments of the week. During these discussions, students will have the opportunity to discuss, comment, and/or ask questions on each other's drawings/videos/written stories. This will promote interaction and engagement among students. I will also check in often, to respond to student questions, and discussions!
Learning Goals
Students will gain an understanding on basic emotions, how to identify emotions, and use oral/written language skills to express and connect to times in which they felt a certain way.

Parental Guidance
As this is a class on feelings, and students will be able to express a time when they felt a certain way, it is my job as the teacher to ensure that all students are submitting work, and using language that is age appropriate in discussions.

👩🏼‍🏫My Philosophy:
It is my philosophy that teaching should always be done in an environment that is healthy, educational, and most importantly safe. I believe that students thrive when they feel the most comfortable, and by transforming learning into fun activities, it allows students to gain a better understanding on a topic whether they realize it or not! It gives me such pride at the end of each school year when they can showcase their learning talents to their parents! I am excited to meet new students and provide the same type of love and enthusiasm to help reach their highest potentials!
