Algebra Students: Let's Learn Multi-Step Equations

In this 1:1 class, students receive individualized help on this specific Algebra topic:  How to solve multi-step equations.

Learners in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 practice problems include solving equations such as these:
3(x + 4) - 5 = -18
2 + 4(x - 7) = 90

I'll walk them through the process step-by-step as they learn to distribute, combine like terms, add or subtract, and multiply or divide in order to solve each problem.  I'll teach students the sequence for this, so that they can use the same steps every time, as a sort of checklist.

I use scaffolded instruction, which simply means that I provide more support at the beginning and gradually students work more and more independently with each new problem.  I provide guidance and feedback throughout the lesson.   

I'm a high school math teacher with a master’s degree in Education, and I specialize in working with students who struggle with math.
