Algebra Basics: Word Problems with Positive and Negative Numbers

This is a one time class on solving word problems by performing operations with positive and negative numbers. This is an ideal lesson as an introduction or as a review for integers. Students will utilize problem solving abilities to determine what operations to use for each question. Students will improve their understanding of positive and negative numbers and real life situations of calculating them. They will be able to perform basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) of both positive and negative numbers through the use of number lines and mental math.
I have a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida. I have experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry in a public Middle School. I have 10+ years of experience as a math tutor for ages 11 to 18.
