Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
Excellent class for supplementing your learner's Algebra 1 curriculum.

Each week, I'll teach a new topic from Algebra 1, including linear equations, quadratic functions, graphing, polynomials, and more.

In the first session each week, I'll teach the topic using strategies below. Practice problems with an answer key will be posted after the first session. Learners may send their worked out practice problems to me before the second session for feedback.

In the second session each week, I'll begin by working through learner requested practice problems before going more in-depth on the topic. After this session, I'll post an assessment in the Outschool classroom. This is optional, at your preference, for your learner to complete. These are self-grading Google Forms assessments that I have created. Learners do not have to log in to take these or to see their results. These are for your home and family use as a free bonus from me.

Teaching strategy: I use scaffolded instruction, which simply means that I provide more support at the beginning and gradually students work more and more independently with each new problem. I provide guidance and feedback throughout the session.

Note: My background is primarily with high school students. I've had so many requests for younger learners to be a part of my classes that I'm creating this class just for younger learners. Please keep in mind that I'm not an elementary teacher and don't really teach with that sort of mindset.

I'm a certified high school math teacher with a master’s degree in Education, and I specialize in working with students who struggle with math. Read through my reviews and bio to get a better sense of my teaching style.
