Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Intermediate Level
Algebra I is a logic and problem solving course that teaches students to think critically and follow a logical path to solve a problem. Algebra's history goes back over 4000 years and this broad area of math is a unifying thread to many areas of math, science and now technology. Algebra teachers critical thinking skills that help students grasp, organize and solve complex problems. Each lesson follows the National Course Standards for Algebra I.

This Algebra I class will meet for two 45 minutes sessions each week and students will be given work after each class. Classes are taught by a certified math teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. Student will learn by direct instruction, cooperative groups, work with manipulatives, formula sheets and worksheets. Students will also have access to online resources provided by the teacher. This course prepares students to solve problems using set parameters and logic. Students will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout class. Lessons are taught using google slides, and note taking tips are also discussed. Students will have a small amount of work to complete outside of class. More work to reinforce a lesson can/may be given if an individual student needs extra practice.

Students should have completed Pre-Algebra before taking this class and students should have a solid understanding of working with numbers including integers, fractions, decimals and percents. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Fox and I am excited to be able to offer classes on Outschool that pertain to my two favorite subjects: Music and Math. I attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance and attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration. I am a musician, a teacher and a business owner. I play the oboe, teach private music lessons and play in many ensembles including the Indian River Pops Orchestra, the Academy Orchestra, the New Gardens Band and the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble. I also love mathematics and I am a retired math teacher who was certified in Mathematics Grades 6-12. I live with my husband, our son and our pet dog. In each class I will create a meaningful learning experience for each student that will promote curiosity and life long learning. I can't wait to share my knowledge and passion with your student. Hope to see you in class soon! Mrs. Fox
