US Grade 7 - 10
This self-paced course is meant to cover all major standards of Algebra 1. Whether your student needs a full curriculum, extra support on a given topic, or just wants to supplement their current curriculum, this course will be of great help to them! I will utilize the I do, We do, You do method of teaching. First, I will do and explain a problem(s). Secondly, we will do a problem(s) together as I encourage the next step but pause to give the student time to think through the process, and then finally, the students will practice problems on their own while I check for their understanding. Students are expected to take notes during each lesson with guided notes that I provide for each lesson. Homework will be assigned weekly through the classroom page and will consist of a variety of worksheets and/or quizzes through an Outschool approved application- Pear Deck- where students will receive grades and feedback in real time. Periodically, we will have "Check Point Assessments" on Pear Deck- that will prepare students for standardized test type assessments such as ACT's, SAT's, ASVAB's, and State Exam's. Score's and feedback are released in real-time so that student's can immediately access their Grades, Correct Answers, and Incorrect Answers. A final End of Year Review will be issued in the last weeks of this course in both PDF format as well as through Pear Deck. This course covers topics such as simplifying expressions and radicals, solving equations and inequalities, graphing linear and non-linear functions, evaluating proportions and percentages, factoring & solving quadratics, and learning how to break down and analyze linear and quadratic word problems. Weekly check-ins and/or homework submission is required. Students will receive detailed feedback from their submitted work on Pear Deck assignments as well as a detailed answer key for all homework assignments with step-by-step scratch work. Communication is key for self-paced classes, and I highly recommend students send in any questions they may have throughout their journey through the course. Prior knowledge of Pre-Algebra- specifically, solving two step equations- is highly recommended. Practice outside of the class recordings, through the material I provide for you, will be instrumental in your students success in Algebra 1!
Learning Goals
