Class Experience
We will discuss executive functioning and social skills tailored to the student's needs. We will spend the first session discussing things that we will work on such as planning to complete tasks, goal setting, planning, dealing with anxiety, advocating for ourselves, beginning tasks, finishing tasks, friendship skills, working with others, positive self-talk, rewarding ourselves for a job well done, communication skills such as waiting our turn and how to communicate effectively, learning to be patient and have delayed rewards, developing resilience as a student and individual.

Master's Degree in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College
I have a Master's in Elementary and Special Education, a B.A. in Psychology. I am certified to teach in New York State and am also a certified Mindfulness for Children Practitioner. I have been teaching since 2006 and love to break things down and help students discover what works best for them. I have taught grades 1-6 in traditional schools and have experience providing home school instruction. My areas of focus are reading, math strategies, sight words, word study and motivating reluctant writers. I want my students to learn something new, but also discover a little bit about how they learn as that will help them for years to come. I often use humor to keep my students engaged and entertained during my classes. I live with my husband and two naughty cats in Florida.
