1:1 Reading Class with Ms. Katie

This class is scheduled by request. Feel free to send me a message and we can find a time that works!

In this 4 week course, Ms. Katie will work with your young reader to choose the best placement for their reading level. Depending on our first class together, your learner may start with a beginning primer, a first reader, or begin the delightful book, "The Tale of Paddy Muskrat" by Arthur Scott Bailey. 

In our reading class, we will focus on 2 important points of fluent reading: phonics and reading comprehension. Our goal is for your student to gain the necessary skills to not only read well, but to understand what they are reading. We will take our time to sound out words, learn new special sounds, and answer questions about the text. 

Following out first one or two meetings, a one page handout will be uploaded into the classroom for each class. This handout will feature sentences or phrases from that week's writing that the student can use for review between lessons. 

Our class reading schedule vary greatly from learner to learner. There is no established set of lessons that your learner must complete within a certain time period. Rather, the goal is tl help your learner progress in each class by increasing their knowledge, skills, and confidence.
