Class Experience

Out of all the subjects we are taught in our academic careers, we don't see any classes on executive functioning skills, which are the backbone of our educations. In my teaching career, I have taken so much joy in teaching students how to be able to grow in their independence, break down a large project into manageable tasks, as well as showing them how to alleviate stress through proper time management.

In these sessions, we will be using the following format:

-Introductions to each other as well as a brief lesson on the most foundational executive functioning skills (prioritization/time management, organization, setting and achieving goals, and self-regulation).
-Discuss a current project or goal that the student needs help working through and figure out which executive functioning skill would be best in their goal.
-We'll create a breakdown of how that skill (or skills) interacts with their goal and begin working on it together.

Prior to the session, please either send me a private message or post in the classroom with the goal or project that your student is working on so I can prepare accordingly for class with activities/discussion points. These sessions are what you make of them - the more you bring to class the more you'll get out of it!

Late Policy: Per Outschool's Happiness Guarantee - once a student is 10 minutes late it is considered a missed meeting. Due to the limited availability in my schedule and the increase in student interest in tutoring I will not be able to refund or transfer a student once he/she is 10 or more minutes late. I will be happy to refund or reschedule a session if communication is given ahead of time!

Class Recording Policy: Recording of class sessions are given for safety concerns or if a student missed a group class. I do not routinely share class recordings for 1:1 sessions as I provide the student with any practice materials they may need during the session or via message immediately afterwards.

Parental Guidance
Depending on the student's goal(s) for class, we may use outside resources such as Nearpod, Canva, and/or Google Suite to create tools together. It is encouraged that students have a Google Account and a Canva Account to be able to participate, but I can share my screen with my account if parent(s) prefer.
Supply List
Although it isn't required, I strongly encourage students to have their own Google and Canva accounts for sessions as they give access to a plethora of tools to strengthen executive functioning skills.
