Cellists of any level can enjoy making progress on their instrument in this course. Beginners through advanced players welcome. All that is needed to start is a cello, bow & willingness to learn. Any age learner is fine for this course since it is one-on-one private lessons. If you are a beginner, the first four weeks will look something like this: Week of September 12 - Learn how to take care of your cello and bow. Get set up to make your very first sound. Learn the names of the strings (A-D-G-C) and all about tuning apps. Week of September 19 - Continue working on cello and bow hold while playing simple rhythms on open strings. If your instrument does not have finger tapes on it, I will assist you in getting this set up. See supply list for amazon link to tapes. Week of September 26 - Playing with fingers on different strings. Simple songs will be introduced. Week of October 3 - Continue working on bowing patterns and simple songs such as Hot Cross Buns or Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Learners may re-enroll for additional sessions and will continue to progress at their own rate. Books I use to teach include but are not limited to: Suzuki repertoire ABC Cello for the Absolute Beginner I Can Read Music Royal Conservatory repertoire Other method books, scales & studies If you need help securing an instrument, please get in touch before enrolling as I am happy to assist with the process of sorting out appropriate size and price range.
