1-2 hours per week. Practice is encouraged! A great goal to aim for is 30 minutes of practice, 5 days a week. Learners have input into their practice goals each week.
Grading

Class Experience

Private lessons for cello mastery.

Get started on your musical journey with a closer look at good posture, bow grip, and tone. In our classes, we practice strings techniques through fun games and learning exercises. Learners will add to their repertoire with coaching to improve on their songs. Learn in a lighthearted and supportive environment. Young musicians will experience demonstrations, feedback, and encouragement.

We will focus on playing technique, posture, ear training and listening, and building repertoire. Private lessons are learner-driven and each week's topic and focus is set based on learner needs and interest.

Our expert cello teachers can teach with the Suzuki Method, Essential Elements, other method books. Students are also welcome to bring their own music, for guidance and feedback on school pieces, orchestra music, or preparing for auditions, concerts, or recitals.

Posture skills include:

Our curriculum focuses on developing a joy for music and enjoyment of the instrument. The curriculum is individualized and learner-driven. This means that we work with parents and learners to select music genres and skills that will keep our students interested and help them meet their goals. We hope to foster lifelong learning and enjoyment of playing your instrument.

Cello and bow in good working condition. Rosin for the bow. Music stand. Rock stop for the cello's endpin. Pitch clip or tuning app.

A passionate and accomplished young musician and performer, cellist Julie Sonne has toured world wide and performed as soloist with the Buffalo Suzuki Strings Advanced Performance Ensemble of Buffalo, NY. She held the position of principal cellist with the University of Florida Orchestra for two years. Recent performances include the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Cedar Rapids and Revival Theatre Company in Iowa, and the Aiken Civic Orchestra in South Carolina.

At the age of 3, Julie began her Suzuki cello training. She has since studied with Arie Lipsky, former principal cellist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Julia Lichten of Purchase Conservatory and Manhattan School of Music, Dr. Steven Thomas at the University of Florida, Alan Harris of Eastman School of Music, and Yehuda Hanani of Mannes School of Music.

In the spring of 2016, Julie graduated from Purchase College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance. In May 2018 she graduated with a Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Florida. As a graduate assistant of Dr. Steven Thomas with a focus on chamber music, Julie performed with the University of Florida Graduate Piano Trio, String Quartet and Piano Quintet and was principal cellist and section coach of the University of Florida Orchestra.

Stacey Rae Sinclair is a lifelong musician with the heart of a teacher. She is a certified teacher with a master's degree in education. Over her 15 years of teaching, she has taught private lessons, workshops, and camps. Stacey Rae Sinclair is a successful teacher on Outschool. Since September of 2020, she has been in good standing, with a 5-star rating. She founded Stacey Rae Sinclair Music (SRS Music & STEAM) to help fill the consistent demand for 1:1 violin, viola, and cello lessons, fiddle classes, and more.

Her love for playing the cello was first ignited as a 4th-grade student in her elementary school orchestra. She is a dedicated musician with a passion for teaching.
