Welcome to Wonders of Science Writing Lessons, where science meets storytelling in a way you’ve never seen before. Imagine diving into the mysteries of the world around us—animals, plants, and even the vastness of space—while learning how to write about these wonders like a true scientist-writer. You’ll master the art of taking notes, retelling stories, and summarizing facts. But it’s not just about writing reports—oh no, it’s about bringing your words to life, using fun language, strong verbs, and creative sentence starters that make your writing sparkle. By enrolling in both courses, you'll cover nearly all the lessons in the book. However, we’ll put extra emphasis on the lessons that introduce fresh stylistic techniques and methods. This means you’ll focus on mastering the tools that will really elevate your writing, giving you the skills to stand out and express yourself with confidence. Each lesson will build on the last, ensuring your writing improves in both creativity and technique. Each week, we’ll tackle a new science topic and break it down into bite-sized, digestible chunks that you’ll get to explore through writing exercises. From using descriptive adjectives to packing your sentences with action verbs, we’ll make sure your writing is anything but boring. Plus, we’ll keep things interactive with a mix of discussions, activities, and a dash of humor to keep things lively. So whether we’re talking about the magical world of plants or the mind-boggling mysteries of space, you’ll walk away with both fascinating knowledge and new writing skills. Class Experience So, what’s this class really like? I believe in making learning fun, and that means plenty of action, interaction, and opportunities for you to really get involved. Each week, we’ll start with a fun discussion to introduce the topic. Then we’ll dive into some writing exercises, where I’ll guide you through the process. Whether it’s writing about the incredible way animals adapt to their environment or describing the wonders of the human body, we’ll take it one step at a time. I’ll be there to help you every single moment—answering your questions, guiding your thinking, and encouraging you to be creative. But it doesn’t stop there. We’ll keep it lively with interactive activities, where you’ll get to share your ideas, play with new vocabulary, and even draw out some of the things you’re learning (who says writing can't have pictures?). You’ll also have the chance to ask questions, share thoughts, and participate in some fun discussions along the way. Expect plenty of live interaction, writing challenges, and chances to share your work with the class. We’ll use Google Classroom, where you can submit your writing assignments and share your work with others for feedback. Plus, each week, you’ll get to see how your writing improves as we build on what we learned in the previous lessons. Whether it's through chatting in class, writing your assignments, or even commenting on other students' work, you’ll be fully immersed in this journey with me. This class is all about taking you on a writing adventure where the magic of science and the art of storytelling come together to create something awesome. And, just to make sure you’re fully prepared, we’ll use the Wonders of Science Writing Lessons (March 2023, First Edition) textbook as your trusty sidekick. It’s got everything you need to keep your learning on track. Ready to get started? I can’t wait to go on this exciting journey with you!
