Students will be assessed during the first two classes of the course to determine their baseline. This baseline will allow me to know what skills a student has mastered and what skills a student needs additional support with. Assessments will be done twice throughout the course, at the beginning and in week 7. Assessments will be done in class. I will be teaching your child how to become a confident reader by teaching them how to blend consonant, vowel, and consonant words with silent e, such as game, cake, hike etc. Our lessons will also include a brain break. Please have a look at the syllabus for a detailed description of our sessions. The fist two classes will be focused on pre-assessment to determine what skills a student has mastered and what skills they need additional support with. After the assessment, We will begin to target reading words with long vowels (a,e,i,o,u). Class structure will follow with : Introduction/ ice breaker Phonological/ phonemic awareness Lesson on reading words with the syllabus schedule Brain break

My name is Mrs. Judith I have a B.A in Psychology and a teaching license in Special Education. I have taught in a dual language school and I am hoping to incorporate a dual language approach in my classes. I am passionate about providing academic support and ensuring no child gets left behind. I am a big advocate for inclusivity, your child will feel loved and welcome in my classes.
As a special education teacher I have learned to target instruction to my student needs. Therefore my classes will be focused on filling gaps in your child's education. I am a big believer in multi-sensory learning.
On my teaching page you will find classes that target the science of reading that include early reading instruction such as phonemic awareness (manipulating individual sounds) , phonological awareness (recognize spoken language ).
I will also teach math, social skills, and teach spanish.
