In this safe and facilitated space we: -Are building an inclusive learner community -Practice conversation and social skills -Hear about far away places -Meet learners with similar interests -Develop positive ways to introduce ourselves to new people -All have crazy accents -Think Outschool is pretty great -Teach each other -Might make lasting friendships -Appreciate each other's values, abilities and beliefs Join this round table once or many times to connect with awesome people who love learning on Outschool. Okay... it's virtual recess. Let's have some fun! Join these learner directed meetings to connect with awesome people who love learning on Outschool. Learners will bring their ideas for games and activities to class. Some popular choices are to do art together on the zoom whiteboard, play scavenger hunt to share stuff in our homes, classic camp games like "would you rather" and "truth or dare", show and tell, and showing off wiggly teeth! Every meeting is a little different as new friends join and bring their ideas to the sessions. What do you want to share? Session topics will be learner-directed. As this is a social group that is learner led with no curriculum, videos will not be shared with families to protect learner privacy.

Necesidades de aprendizaje
We are a Neuroaffirming Organization! We support learners with different needs and meet them where they are at. In our social groups, we can read out the chat, we can scribe and we keep the class together and don't use breakout rooms.
Orientación para padres
This class is designed and delivered to support learners in achieving a high school diploma. By engaging in communications studies using an online platform, learners can engage with audiences and cultures that they may not otherwise be able to access. The online classroom enhances the learner’s opportunities to consider diverse perspectives, acquire information and present information for many purposes and audiences. The following are examples of competencies that are developed and supported in this classroom.
Connecting and engaging with others
Students engage in informal and structured conversations in which they listen, contribute, develop understanding and relationships, and learn to consider diverse perspectives. This facet of communication is closely linked to the building and sustaining of relationships at home, at school, in the community, and through social media.
Focusing on intent and purpose
Students communicate with intention and purpose.
They understand that communication can influence, entertain, teach, inspire, and help us make sense of the world and our experiences. They recognize the role the audience plays in constructing meaning, and they make strategic choices to help convey their messages and create their intended impact. They draw from a range of forms, media, and techniques, monitoring and adjusting their approaches and assessing their effects.
Acquiring and presenting information
Students communicate by receiving and presenting information. They inquire into topics of interest and topics related to their studies. They acquire information from a variety of sources, including people, print materials, and media; this may involve listening, viewing, or reading, and requires understanding of how to interpret information. They present information for many purposes and audiences, and their presentations often feature media and technology.
