🥳In this safe and facilitated space we🥳 -Are building an inclusive learner community -Practice conversation and social skills -Meet learners with similar interests -Develop positive ways to introduce ourselves to new people -Teach each other -Appreciate each other's values, abilities and beliefs What a class looks like: 🌟We greet each other and share what we have been doing this week. 🌟We show and tell whatever we brought. 🌟A call for a game might lead to a learner teaching us a new one or we play a whiteboard game or icebreaker. 🌟We might draw on the whiteboard while we talk about things or create a new creature! 🌟We close with a chance to share plans for the week or weekend coming up. Every meeting is a little different as new friends join and bring their ideas to the sessions. What do you want to share? Session topics will be learner-directed. As this is a social group that is learner led with no curriculum, videos will not be shared with families to protect learner privacy. We are a Neuroaffirming Organization! We support learners with different needs and meet them where they are at. In our social groups, we can read out the chat, we can scribe and we keep the class together and don't use breakout rooms.
Orientación para padres
This is a facilitated, not an instructional class. There is no content on "How to Make Friends". This is a social space where learners are encouraged to share things that are important or interesting to them.
This class is designed and delivered to support learners in achieving a high school diploma. By engaging in communications studies using an online platform, learners can engage with audiences and cultures that they may not otherwise be able to access. The online classroom enhances the learner’s opportunities to consider diverse perspectives, acquire information and present information for many purposes and audiences. The following are examples of competencies that are developed and supported in this classroom.

I'm cool with awkward moments and silence. Growth happens in discomfort. I leave space for connection. I do make sure everyone gets a turn to speak, keep things safe, and as much as possible, I try to stay out of the way.
This is a learner driven class. They are getting to know new people. I often don't know what they are talking about, and don't plan on keeping up with trends. I'm curious when I can be, but I know enough to back off if the group is connecting over something that I've never heard of. They aren't here for another adult perspective.
I see their strengths. Every person has value to offer and I am passionate about making an open space for learners to share and connect. Reseñas
