Summarizing is like a superhero skill for students to master, helping them to write great essays in the future. We will read a short story together and then work through the five sentence method of: "First, Next, Then, After that, and Finally". We will also explore: "Somebody, Wanted, But, So, at the End". This is a great way to organize a summary in the order of events and gives us clues to what details are important in a narrative story. Each learner will work on their own version of these sentences and can share their summary at the end if they choose. These skills support the BC Ministry of Education's Core Competencies English Language Arts for Grades 3-10. **Please be aware that if we have fewer than 2 learners in a class, the class will be cancelled.
