This will be an engaging, hands on, seventh grade math class! We will learn new skills through slides, videos, lecture, partner work, and hands on activities. This is an ongoing class so each week is independent, meaning you can join at any time! We will often practice the material we learned that week with either a game or activity in class - each class has its own lesson with activities. I am a licensed teacher, and I have always loved teacher math! I also love to get to know the students in my class and allow them to get to know each other. As a teacher I understand the more I get to know my students and build a relationship with them the better the classroom environment becomes!  I have been a teacher for nine years, and I am excited to teach your seventh grade student from the comfort of your home! 

Week1- August 26, 2024
Find the prime factorization of whole numbers and write the results using exponents.
~I can make and use factor trees to find the prime factorization of numbers.
~I can write the prime factorization of a composite number using exponents.
Exploring negative numbers with exponents and negative powers
~I can identify if a negative number with an exponent will be positive or negative 
~I can solve problems with negative exponents

Week 2-
Understand the inverse relationship between squaring and finding the square root of a perfect square whole number.  Find square roots of perfect square whole numbers.
~I can find the square root, when given a perfect square whole number
~I can explain the relationship between squaring and finding the square root.
~I can identify when only the principal square root is appropriate to find.

Week3-
 Rational and irrational numbers. 
~I can classify a number as rational or irrational.
~I can use estimate values to compare and order two or more rational and/or irrational numbers.
~I can plot rational numbers and estimates of irrational numbers on a number line.

Week 4- 
Solve inequalities 
~I can use variables to represent numbers in real-world or mathematical problems and make simple inequalities to solve problems.
~I can graph and interpret the solution set of an inequality in the context of a problem.
~I can solve an inequality for an unknown value, without context.

Graphing Slope

Hello! My name is Mrs. Neal! I am a licensed teacher in the state of Indiana. I have been teaching on Outschool for five years, teaching 3rd - 6th reading/LA and Math! I taught 3rd grade for 7 years, and loved every second of it! I always knew I had a passion for math, but becoming a  teacher taught me that I also have a love and passion for reading and teaching kids to love reading! My goal is always to create a classroom where students feel valued, successful, wanted, and smart! I keep my classroom positive and expect kindness and respect from all students.
I am also a mother of three, two boys ages 18 and 7 and a girl age 14. I did step away from the classroom four years ago in order to stay home with my kids. We live in Indiana during the summer and go to Florida for the winter months - I love showing my students the ocean and allowing them to see what we have seen on our adventures during the week.
I am very excited to meet you and your student in class!
