Class experience
The NoSleep subreddit, which celebrated its ten-year anniversary this last March, is well known for being a quality source of short horror fiction, even outside of Reddit. Following a very specific set of guidelines, it is strictly moderated, and there is a list of themes that are not allowed to be story focuses. In addition, comments are only allowed on the stories if they are reacting to the story as if it were a real event. For the first day, learners will read a list of stories before...
Notebook/paper and pencil/pen. Handouts will be given, but printing them is optional.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parent notes: While NoSleep in a horror subreddit, and as such contains horror themes, it is not a place for graphic horror, splatter horror, torture horror, or any such subjects. Their guidelines here https://old.reddit.com/r/NoSleepOOC/comments/hjhuyq/new_and_improved_posting_guidelines/ have an extensive list of what is not allowed, including details. Therefore, while horror, the stories are less extreme than what Stephen King, Clive Barker or Dean Koontz might write.
