US Grade 9 - 12
In one hour, students will learn how to write an effective paragraph. I will explain six important aspects of writing. If students use these in their writing, of any kind, then they will always write a strong, polished piece. The six steps that I will discuss include the following: 1. Proper syntax (sentence structure) 2. Elevating word choices and writing in complex clauses as well as code-switching 3. Employing strong grammar and punctuation-knowing clearly when to use a comma vs a semicolon or a colon 4. Use transitions to guide the flow of writing-when to use them and which types are best used for certain paragraph patterns 5. The guideline of general to specific 6. Ending body paragraphs with a smooth one sentence transition. I will teach, show examples, and then have students practice each by writing their own paragraph and revising it according to these six steps. It will be FUN and HIGHLY educational! You or your child will end the session being much more confident as a writer!
