By the end of this class, students will have a toolkit of strategies for elaborating their writing, making their stories, essays, and descriptions more captivating and enjoyable for their readers. They will gain confidence in their ability to express their ideas clearly and creatively, setting a strong foundation for their future writing endeavors. Students will work on 2 types of writing: narrative and expository. For each essay, students will go through the writing process from brainstorming, prewriting, adding elaboration (heavy emphasis), drafting, and editing. Specific elaboration strategies will be determined based on each child's specific needs. Students will receive one on one support for these strategies and will peer edit to drive creative inspiration.
