Homework
1 hour per week. The homework will be an extension of the learning, allowing students to relate the content to their own situation and goals. Week 1: Create a simple budget using a downloadable template. Week 2: List short-term and long-term savings goals. Week 3: Track spending habits over a week. Week 4: Final project—combine their budget, saving goals, and spending habits into a comprehensive financial plan.

Class Experience

In this four-lesson course, middle school learners will be introduced to essential financial literacy concepts such as budgeting, saving, spending, and understanding financial goals. Each week will focus on a specific topic, allowing learners to actively engage through discussions, real-world examples, and interactive activities.

Lesson 1:
Week 1: Budgeting Basics
 Learners will explore what a budget is, why it's important, and how to create one for themselves.

Homework: Create a simple budget using a downloadable template.

 This lesson focuses on the importance of saving, how to set savings goals, and ways to save for both short- and long-term goals.

 Learners will learn how to make smart purchasing decisions by understanding wants vs. needs, comparison shopping, and how advertising can affect spending.

 In the final lesson, learners will bring all concepts together to set personal financial goals and create their own budget plans.

Parental Guidance
This class does not contain any sensitive content. However, parents are encouraged to discuss financial goals and practices at home to reinforce what learners are taught in class.
